A great before and after project for us. The owners wanted to replace a failing deck at the back of their home with a new screened-in porch which would allow for three seasons of gatherings in the fresh air, rain or shine, and in the evening when the bugs are out. The challenge was to come in within a fairly tight budget.
As is sometimes the case the key turned out to be the use of an old school approach to framing – in this case, a timber- framed gable roof decked with stained 2x6 tongue and groove boards, and executing all but the roofing with our in-house carpenters. The timbers and 2x6 deck boards were sourced from a great supplier four hours south of Cincinnati – Twin Creeks Log Home Supply.
